The best moments in my mind are, equally, the penalty goal against Uruguay and the goal against Japan in the World Cup.

You've been married for 11 years. Quite an achievement in professional sport. What are your tips for sustaining a long-term relationship?

As I tell my single mates, you can only learn the secrets of happy marriage if you're happily married yourself. Otherwise, I do think that lots of honest communication is important. You have to be confident you can be truthful with your partner. And little gestures count, like taking the family out to dinner after a busy day.

Why would you recommend Head & Shoulders to your friends?

Part of being confident is knowing you look good. I like Head & Shoulders because it's an easy and fast way to get rid of dandruff, but it also leaves your hair smelling great and looking healthy. Actually, a lot of my mates are starting to use it too!

Got some advice for staying ahead?

I've got to constantly juggle my appointments, whether it's training sessions, promotional interviews or attending business meetings. Because I'm representing my country, I've got to look professional all the time. Head & Shoulders gives me the confidence that my hair is free from dandruff and I look my best.

Since I've been using Head & Shoulders my scalp has been really healthy. So now when those rare ‘quality time' occasions come up, I've got the confidence of knowing my hair looks good.

(laughs) Probably singing in the shower, or maybe when the kids hug you and tell you that you smell nice.
